Anyone know the name of this cartoon/anime?

It was from the 1970s or 1980s. Most probably Japanese, but I'm not sure.

The cartoon series was set in North America during the French and Indian Wars or the American Revolution period. It had a a strong-willed female central character, an Iroquois (?) Indian and I think a soldier in a blue uniform. It used to air on TF1 (France) or 5 (La Cinq) in 1990.

The artwork was splendid - log cabins, green grass and beautiful forests.

The fights featured muskets, tomahawks etc.
